i recently found a pink liquid in a small pill bottle that smells like cough syrup in my friends cabinet. i was wondering what this is. i know that it isnt cough syrup tho. and if this is methadone what signs should i look for after someone takes it. like how will they act and how long do the effects last?
i tasted it and it tasted like a very strong cough syrup. its light pink and doesnt look as thick as pepto does.

I’m not completely sure about this but I think methadone is generally green or blue-ish, not pink. The only pink liquid I can think of is pepto bismol which is more or less harmless.

Methadone in the US is dark pink to light red in color (depending on how much water is used to water it down, if any) and it does have a strong cough syrup taste…but bitter. It is said to be cherry flavored but most agree it is much more bitter than cherry cough syrup. It is usually thinner than cough syrup and if water is added to it can be very thin. It sounds like what you found is Methadone. They put it in pill bottles but at my clinic they have a label with the name, dose, etc. However, the shrink wrapped bottles may have the label on it or the person who they bought it from removed the label I am sure. Plus we have to return our bottles to the clinic so they may have put it in a regular script bottle. Anyway, S/S of someone who is using “street” methadone will vary depending on how tolerant they are to opiates and how high the dose is. This is why those who attend clinics do not get high on their dose because they are “stabilized” so they appear normal. People who are using it to get high may show pin point pupils, drowsiness, insomnia, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, Migraines / Headaches,More serious signs may include a loud, strange snoring or gurgling sound while sleeping which can indicate overdose and should prompt you to call 911.
