Sometimes, it can be difficult to notice if you are a drug addict. Nobody wants to be addicted to drugs, but drug abuse leads to this very quickly. Sometimes you may even realize that you are addicted, but you will never admit it to others.

Drug addiction causes many problems: including relationship problems, money problems, work or school related problems, and health problems. If you think you may be addicted to drugs, it is important to get help as soon as possible. If you’re not sure, please ask yourself the following questions.

  • Do you really feel you are in control of your drug use, as in how often you use drugs and the amount you use?
  • Have you ever lied about your drug use, or stolen to support your drug habit?
  • Can you imagine a life without using drugs?
  • Have you started having drugs more frequently, or increased the amount of drugs you are using?
  • Do you lie to your friends that you don’t have drugs? (Either keeping drugs to yourself, or denying that you are using drugs.)
  • Is there a routine in your life that includes scheduled drug use? (For example: before/after work, in the morning or before you go to bed, or even after a stressful day.)
  • Do you still enjoy other things that once made you happy?

If you are honest with yourself as you answer these questions, then you should know if it is time to face your drug problem. More importantly, if you are reading this article right now because you think you might have a problem with drugs but you’re not sure… chances are you do have a problem.
