How to Over Come “the Silent Treatment”?

Question by z6x643: How to over come “The Silent Treatment”?
My lover is pissed at me because I had to cancel our dinner plans tuesday night due to a family emergency. She hasn’t talked to me in three days. I lost my temper last night and called like 10 times last night as well as some texts. Today, at 10:00 I sent a text (because she won’t answer the phone) and just said “will you allow me, a guy who loves you more than anything, to take you out for dinner tonight, anywhere you want to go. please.”. No answer. What should I do? Drop it and leave her be? Try calling her again this Thursday, or Sunday? Stay persistent? Completely ignore her until she contacts me? What?

She was pissed because you had a family emergency that preempted your dinner plans and you feel that this is the type of person you still want to be involved with? She sounds quite selfish and immature to me.

She sounds immature since she cant accept you had to cancel due to a family emergency.

  • Valerie X Account #21!:

Ok…here is the deal…..morons that use “the silent treatment” do so because they knows it BOTHERS THEM so they “think” it must bother everyone else.

    Solution?

Do it right back to her! Don’t call her, and don’t accept her calls….two can play baby games……

  • Katie M:

She’s made it clear she’s not ready to communicate with you yet. Give her the space she needs. If she’s that pissed over a cancelled dinner plan, she needs to wake up and realize there are much worse things than having a date postponed. She sounds like she likes to hold a grudge.

  • kittykatsback:

Ha ha ha what a TOOL you are!

She does it because it gets her dinner.

We woman know what works and what we can get away with. It is up to YOU to set boundaries and KEEP TO THEM or you will be treated like a turd in every relationship.

  • Magic 8 Ball Humping to Dominate:

I would take this as a red flag that this person is not right in the head. Seriously, unless this is seventh grade, normal people don’t do this.

I would do my best to move on, and when they come out of that funk, let them know that it is the last time they will be pulling that crap if they want to be with you. Seriously.

  • Gabriel C:

if she is “just your lover” dump her and find another.A family emergency is a family emergency. If her precious ego can handle that dump her.Send her a box of tampons with a note saying “Once you get over it ,give me a call.”

  • colostomy_punch:

She’s being unreasonable. this was a family emergency so what did she expect? it’s not like you ditched her to hang out with someone else or for some other stupid reason. I’d leave her be. She’ll come around if she’s smart and if she doesn’t then let her go.

  • southerngal:

Definitely immature why are you with her still?

  • CornSac Of Balls in your Face:

You made your effort and really left an open door for her, Now the ball is in her court. So if she wants to continue to be a brat than let her. She’ll get tired of her own game eventually.
