I’m not familiar with a “behavior clinic” so I’m going to assume you’re talking about some kind of inpatient psychiatric unit. If you checked yourself in voluntarily then you can check yourself out at any time voluntarily, for the most part. If a doctor at the facility feels that you would be a threat to yourself or others if you left, they can have you involuntarily committed to the facility for up to 72 hours.
If they want to keep you longer than that against your will, they will have to present evidence to a judge showing that you’re a danger to yourself or others. It’s my experience that unless the patient is clearly psychotic and making threats towards people in the courtroom or throwing their feces, the judge will tend to rule in the patient’s favor.
