What Could the “Rare but Serious Side Effects” of Anti-Depressants Mean?

Question by KK :): What could the “rare but serious side effects” of anti-depressants mean?
My little sister has been on amitriptyline and sertraline for quite some time for chronic daily headaches, and developed many of what we just realized are listed under the rare but serious side effects of both. Things like the abnominal pain, nausea and vomiting, and seizures are included in this. Does anyone know what happened if it really was caused by the medicine?
