How Long Did It Take You to Withdraw Completely From Paroxetine/paxil?
Question by akivi73: How long did it take you to withdraw completely from paroxetine/paxil?
Is there anything that helped with the discomfort?
I’ve been off paroxetine for about a week because I can’t afford to go to the doc for a new prescription. I knew that was coming up so I tapered off the dose for about a week prior, but I’m still having withdrawal symptoms-“brain zaps” & dizziness mostly.

Answer by Mad Mac
Paroxetine is an SSRI and has the highest incidence of discontinuation syndrome of any serotonin re-uptake inhibiting medication. You need to discontinue it under the supervision of the prescribing physician. Look up “paroxetine withdrawal” and “SSRI discontinuation syndrome” in Yahoo! web searches for detailed info on this.
Negativity is the cause of depression, not a “chemical imbalance”; try “learning to think positive” in a Yahoo! web search for links on how to do this.
