Resolved Question: Why are so many people obsessed with diagnosing mental disorders?
I’m sure that if you really wanted to, every single person on the planet would fit roughly into the criteria for some disorder, despite not having problems dealing with day to day life. I realise that if people genuinely do have problems coping that it can make a very positive difference to see a therapist, be diagnosed and get the appropriate treatment. However, it seems like these days people are actively looking for more syndromes and disorders that they meet the criteria for, simply because they feel their life isn’t perfect. I’m also convinced that many people are on medication that they really don’t NEED and meanwhile are becoming psychologically addicted to them, believing they need them just to get by. What are the reasons for this? Stefon, I totally agree and that’s such a perfect example ADHD or ADD, another one is being bipolar and having depression or anxiety. Many people can’t always concentrate or feel down because something bad happened in their life, but they deal with it..
