Resolved Question: Should I switch from Methadone to Suboxone?
I’m on a low dose of 10milligrams of Methadone. I’ve been tapering down 10milligrams every two weeks. My maximum dose was 35milligrams. Where I go it would take me about a year or more beore I’d even get a week of dose take homes. I’m tapering because of course I’ve had enough and want off but the main reason is because I have some traving coming up. I’m in Boise, ID and going home (Haven’t been home in 3 years) to visit my family once I get my taxs back. I want to go for 2 weeks. If I stay on the Methadone and taper myself slower then I’d only be able to go for 4 days at most because I cannot get anymore then 4 days worth of traveling take homes. My plan was to stay on 10 milligrams for 2 weeks then just stop. So if I stayed on 10 milligrams for 2 weeks I would be off on February 18th. But now I’m getting nervous that I’m going to feel awful and I don’t want to go through that and I was told that if I go onto Subxone within a month I can have 2 weeks worth of take homes. I’m getting my taxs back by the 22nd of February. I was planning on leaving for Boston on the fifth of March and coming back 2 weeks later I was planning on leaving for Boston on the fifth of March and coming back 2 weeks later and after I come back from Boston I will be staying in Boise for only a week or 2 and then leaving for Canada for 2 weeks. I really want off this stuf but I know if I don’t do it the right way I will be back where I was. I ended up with a pill problem after I got an abundance of pills from an accident that I was in that left me with a few broken bones. I want off but I know I need to do it right so do you think I should just stop at the methadone cold turkey or switch from the methadone to the suboxone and taper myself more slowly so it’s not as violent and I’m comfortable and I will be able to travel like I want to while I’m on the suboxone? Please only serious answers.
