hi. im 31 years old and have alot of physical problems, worst of all is degenerative disc disease, in which i had a lumbar fusion for when i was 28. i see a pain management doc every month and he is working with me on getting the right long acting pain medicine that works for me. he put me on opana er the first couple of months, and it worked great, but my medicare stopped paying for it. this last month he put me on ms contin, and it makes me feel awful. it helps with the pain, but it makes me sick to my stomach, and worse of all, it causes me to want to sleep all the time. my insurance will only pay for the ms contin, methadone and fentanyl for long acting pain meds. i have been on all 3 and they all have terrible side effects. even though i have chronic pain, i want to get off the narcotics. the main reason being is because of the side effects. im still on the ms contin but i would like to know if anyone can give me any advice on making the withdrawals easier to go through without having to go to the hospital. if i can find out how to make the withdrawals easier, i want to stop taking this or any other narcotic. i would appreciate any thoughts on this!

my pm doctor put me on opana er 10mg a few months ago for my ddd. it seemed to be a miracle, and worked great. my insurance has since has stopped payin for it and will only cover methadone, fentanyl or ms contin for long term pain management. ive taken all 3 in the past, and havent had much luck with any of them. ms contin seemed to be the lesser evil of the 3, so he put me on 30mg 2 times daily last month. it is causing me to feel awful due to nausea, and extreme fatigue. it also isnt helping with my pain. does anyone know of any other long acting pain meds that should be covered under my medicare part d? also, i dont go to see him again until next wednesday and was wondering if anyone knows of anything otc that would be good to help with the side effects until then? my sleeping pattern is all messed up and am tired of these side effects, please help! Thank You!
Zarney. im in tennessee and on the well care and tenn care plans. i dont know if you are familiar with them or not. is the drug formulary something that my agent can send me to fill out and carry to the doctor? if you dont mind, can you tell me what a drug formulary is? i know my doctors nurse tried to get me approved for another medication when i first started going, and i was turned down. is that what your talking about?
