Open Question: I am a heroin addict and want to stop using. I have been referred to methadone but want to try suboxone.?
Does anyone have advice on how to stop using heroin? I know methadone clinics are an option but I don’t want to be medicated forever. I’ve been looking into suboxone maintenance but am having a problem finding a doctor who takes insurance for the office visit. Does anyone know of a doctor in the Philadelphia area who accepts insurance for the office visit? Or any advice on methadone? Or any other options for getting off heroin?

I am going through voluntary withdraw from 10 mg. tablets 4 times a day. Methadone is killing me. DR. said it was cause of all my stomach problems .Pain clinic will not help me withdraw so I;M trying to do it by myself as I don;t have money or insurance to go to a hosp. or clinic.
