Resolved Question: Is it wrong to caution someone desperate for help against alt-med they are already engaged in?

My sister gave up heroine nearly a year ago. She is on methadone to fight the withdrawal symptoms and will be for years, but it makes her sick. I have even taken a course in special nutritional needs to help her eat enough food without triggering severe pangs of nausea. She is doing well now enrolled in culinary courses from which I constantly hear her instructors praise her drive and potential. She even has a seasonal gig as an ice sculptor. She really has turned her life around in all ways I could expect. Including leaving her old friends which I know devastated her.

But here is the issue. She thinks acupuncture will help her with her nausea. I have had to track her bouts of nausea for medical reasons, and so far, the data shows no difference with or without these treatments. She has chewed me out in the past for telling her that homeopathy was not doing anything for her, and I am paying for many of her treatments. I am not sure if it is better to let her think she is helping herself when she really is not or let her know that she is wasting and has wasted a fair amount of time and money.

Resolved Question: Do you support methadone treatment for addicts?

Do you support treating opiate addicts (addicts to drugs like oxycontin, vicodin, and heroin) with methadone? Why or why not?
Also, would you be okay with a methadone clinic opening up in your neighborhood?
