Methadone Detox: Open Question: What Can I Do to Lessen the Affects of Methadone Detox (Besides the Obvious Which Is Out of the Question!)?
Open Question: What can I do to lessen the affects of Methadone Detox (besides the obvious which is out of the question!)?
I have recently decided to detox myself off of Methadone after being on it for about 2 1/2 years. I have to say it has changed my life 100% for the better. I now have my own place, a job, an extremely loving and supportive boyfriend and family, not to mention that they actually speak to me again! I believe i have the support I need in my life at this point to come down off it. The clinic I go to monitors me but the emotional support is a huge factor in all of this. But at the end of the day, still being on the methadone is like liquid handcuffs. I can’t vacation because i need to go to the clinic every day and I just want to be free from it all. No more crutches. My question is, is there anything I can do or take to lessen the withdrawal effects because I still need to hold a job and i’m coming down 5 mg a week which will be rough but that is my only option. I’ve heard some suggestions like Kratom, muscle relaxants, and anxiety medication. But any and all suggestions from people who have been through a similar experience would help greatly. Thanks so much!
