Eritrean National Prison System and Rehabilitation Centers – EriTV – 25 September 2012 — The National Prison and Rehabilitation Center said that prisoners are in a position to raise production capacity in line with their participation in professional and academic training, as well as other activities. Brig. General Girmai Mehari, Commander of the National Prison and Rehabilitation Center, disclosed that a number of prisoners have become beneficiaries of practical trainings pertaining to agriculture, construction, weaving, ceramics, woodwork and metalwork, and that the products they display during the national festival attest to such capacity-building venture. He also indicated that regular academic service is being rendered by the Center, besides the availability of library and recreation services. Reports indicate that 18 out of the 25 prisoners who sat for the National Matriculation Examination this year scored passing marks, 8 of whom are degree program candidates. Brig. General Girmai called on the citizenry to extend a helping hand towards strengthening the role of parent and schools in nurturing productive and responsible youths.
Commissioners Consider Privatizing Nursing Home and Rehab Center
