Do Doctors Not Have to Tell You All the Side Effects of a Medicine?

Question by pinkone324: do doctors not have to tell you all the side effects of a medicine?
okay, so i was taking zantac, and after a while my mom and i started noticing that my hair falling out. my mom says “maybe it’s that zantac” and i said “no it couldn’t be, because the doctor didn’t say anything about hair loss” so anyway, i continue to use the zantac until one day I could physically tell that i’d lost a lot of hair! so my mom eventually looks up the side effects of zantac and it said that hair loss is a rare side effect. when i heard this, i was furious because my doctor didn’t tell me ANYTHING about this! soo my question is, are docs allowed to keep that kind of info from their patient? even if it’s “rare”?
i’d appreciate NON-ATTITUDE. i’m still a teen, give me a damn break! i’m still growing on the whole “common-sense” thing SHEESH! smart asses! i didn’t know that you had to ask about all that, i just figured the doctor had to tell you everything! and i’m not dissing doctors!! i just wanted to know! it’s a simple yes or no question, no need to attack me! no wonder people get so discouraged to do things! it’s not like i’m planning to take legal action, SHIT! i just wanted to know. damn! a less attitude-ish answaer would’ve been appreciated! i just couldn’t get a simple “yes, but you should always ask the doctor about rare side effects” damn! it wasn’t on the bottle or anything so i just figured! like i said i’m still a teen, so lay off!

They don’t always remember to tell you the side effects and you should have asked and or read the information that comes with the medication. Hair loss is one of the less common side effects.
