Alcoholic Needs Help?

Question by Ever: Alcoholic needs help?
I can’t attend AA but seriously need some help with my alcohol isssue. Is there anything out there or anyone that can help?
Ok after the first round of replies…

First of all I ask on Yahoo answers because I’m deperate so, sarcastic need not reply.

Second, I’m a single Mom with 3 jobs to keep a roof over our heads. I do exercise and pray. I don’t have an excuse but, I have to be at work in the daytime when meetings happen and after that don’t have a baby sitter.

So, if you have a real answer or know someone who would be an online or if in my area a real sponser please let me know.

well in my beliefs i would say prayer is a good way to go and a good exercise of willpower

  • has:

AA really is the best place to go.
Try a counseling center, that deals with addiction.

Attend now when you can easily drive there before you are forced by law enforcement to attend when your next excuse is you can’t legally drive to the meetings. They don’t do online meetings so excuses don’t work.

Go to your doctor PS I was/am an alcoholic Your doctor can give tablets to regulate your liver function and you CAN’T stop on your own I tried for years…………And it’s nothing to do with willpower either. It’s a chemical imbalance.

    go to an NA meeting

Get yourself into a structiured inpatient or outpatient program to get yourself some help. And I am also interested in hearing why you can’t attend A.A. Everybody can attend A.A. Your reasons for saying that? There are also other support groups available in most larger communities to help you stay clean. And despite what one of the responders stated (I’m sure he meant well), it has absolutely NOTHING whatsoever to do with developing willpower. Get yourself some help, immediately.

I cant personally help but I know so many people that are alcoholics. My dad is an alcoholic, my friends dad, my grandpa, anyway one of them decided to try and stop.He reads books he got a job he has support from his wife and he has been going to rehab on and off for a while and he is getting much better and this guy really had a problem.Im very proud of him so maybe you just need support and a caring person to help you first off…and if that shit wont help personally id suggest switching to weed its not a drug you know.Or you can try looking up help or calling someone if you really want to help yourself.

Not sure why you can’t attend AA. but you CAN stop on your own. If you are disabled-call them on the phone and let them know you need a sponsor. If that’s not the case-start doing small things to break your habit. Instead of coming in and fixing a drink-go for a walk- or stop off at a bookstore browse around and get a coffee before you go home-or fix dinner right away and have a glass of milk with your dinner then take a walk. That really works- and if you smoke, throw them down too. It works better if you just quit everything at once.Because the drinking and smoking are triggers that go together-like coffee and a cigarette. Just decide you are going to do it-NO matter what. It’s obviously costing you dearly now to be writing this and it’s only going to cost you more until you have nothing left. Change friends if you have to. Don’t let others pull you down. You will come to love your clean feeling more and more every day. Just start tommorrow and if you have to congratulate yourself every 15 minutes-do it! Chew gum and drink alot of water and sweat it all out too.
