They are drinking straight vodka through straws on Ellen right now. Even though ellen just said earlier “I know it looks fun kids but don’t smoke”. Maybe this show is recorded at another time but why is the one woman constantly sloshed on wine on Good Morning America and the today show? They are constantly drinking wine live in the morning. Thoughts?
I’m currently in recovery for alcoholism that’s why I notice behaviors I used to do that led to alcoholism like morning drinking. The show is called the today show kathy lee gifforf and hoda are drinking every day and drunk on this show. Ellen was drinking straight vodka DURING taping not between takes.

Remember M*A*S*H? In those days people in the media/entertainment industry thought nothing of shoving comedic images of drunkenness and drunk driving down our throats (sure, there was a lot of drinking and drunk driving during the Korean War, but their portrayal was not appropriate). This is just one example of the culture at the time — drunkenness and drunk driving were often depicted in comedies and dramas, but no negative stigma was attached unless the show was about an alcoholic.
Fast forward to the mid-’80’s when Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) became a nationwide movement. There was a major pendulum swing in the media/entertainment industry. Alcohol became demonized. More and more ads about drunk driving popped up (“Call a cab”), and eventually alcohol producers were forced to put the phrase “drink responsibly” in their ads. Heck, the NFL restricted the number of beer commercials that could be televised during any given game.
Now we’re finding out that one or two drinks a day is actually good for adults. Maybe this is an indication that the media/entertainment industry is “returning to center.”
P.S. Which women are you referring to that are constantly “sloshed” on GMA and the Today Show? The only woman I know of who is constantly sloshed on camera is Sandra Lee from the Food Network…

That tells you more about the quality of US TV than almost anything else could. Though I would ask – how come you managed to see what was actually going on in the few seconds of show visible between adverts?
