What’s Chasing the Dragon?

Question by roastyfrenchtoast: What’s chasing the dragon?
I was watching Gilmore Girls and Paris said Lane was, “chasing the dragon.” Today I was in class and one of the girls in it (that is on drugs) said that right now she was “chasing the dragon.” So… what does it mean? Thanks!

It comes from Ancient Oriental terminology, and “peaked” in the era of British occupation in China, in the “opium dens”.
