Question About Dilantin and Birth Control?

i have just been diagnosed with epilepsy and i was perscribed dilantin. i know all the side affects and know you cant take barbituates (sleeping pills) with it or drink alcohol, but i take the birth control pill and i was wondering if it still works while i take the dilantin.

You should ask your doctor about this question. People on Yahoo Answers will give you mixed answers to this question, and you don’t know who actually knows the truth or who is guessing.

I have found this site (sources.) Under “What special precautions should I follow?” the second point says to mention to you doctor if you use dilantin. It also says “Your doctor may need to change the doses of your medications or monitor you carefully for side effects.” (relating to if you are taking any of the listed medications.
