Methadone Clinics: Open Question: Question Regarding My Methadone Prescription…?

Open Question: Question regarding my methadone prescription…?

I have been prescribed methadone in the Tampa Bay area for the purpose of addiction treatment for the last 4 years by a private doctor. Now, my doctor is going to retire soon and I’m not sure how else to get a prescription for methadone without going to clinic and that just isn’t feasible for me. Getting this prescription has saved my life… I went from being a strung out addict, nearly incapable of functioning as a decent member of society to a young, career focused professional with a great job, wonderful relationships, and a sense of security looking ahead… I believe the methadone clinics are money driven, cattle houses that do nothing but perpetuate the addiction they are treating. It’s like my therapist says, for a program aimed at helping people, the clinics sure do a great job of keeping people right where they are. I was planning at least 1 more year on methadone but do not have the means to go to a clinic and would like to know how to continue under the care of a private doctor. Preferably a psychiatrist since that’s how I am doing it now. I don’t know if I could see a pain doctor since technically that’s not why I require this medication, but I would be open to it. Clinics and Suboxone aside, is there a doctor I could see for this? I will contact you privately if you don’t want to discuss this here, to anybody with suggestions…

Open Question: Is my boyfriend using heroin and should I break up with him?

my boyfriend and I have been dating for two years. We work together and I’m very aware that years ago, before we met, he had a heroin addiction. Things have been pretty good but there have been isolated instances within the past year that make me suspicious that he is using again.i.e. last year my roommates would find syringes in the toilets, he spends a lot of time in the bathroom and once I heard a spoon fall, things like that. My coworkers came to me and said that they suspect this of him too, saying he dropped a needle cap and they always find rubber bands and wax baggies in the bathroom. The thing is, he’s on probation and the methadone clinic so I know he’s getting drug tested regularly. I also know that all of this word of mouth is not concrete evidence because I haven’t seen anything myself. Should I break up with him or is this not enough of a reason? Please help.
