From health costs to heroin addicts who are often infected with HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, and bacterial infections to costs to the health care system itself to attend to these illnesses. In addition, there are costs to Police and the Courts to prosecute heroin addicts who engage in illegal activities such as theft or prostitution to pay for their heroin addiction.
