Methadone Treatment: Open Question: Heroin Withdrawal Help? HELP!?

Open Question: Heroin withdrawal help? HELP!?

Hi I have been struggling with a heroin addiction for a year now and am completely ready to do whatever it takes to quit. I have been using for about one year and I use anywhere from a bag (rarely) to 10 bags a day. I do not want to use again. My hatred for the drug has become so strong now that I can;t stand it anymore. I have lost everything and hit rock bottom. I can’t afford any types of treatment availible in my area though I am going to start NA meetings tonight. My question is what is the best way to deal with the withdrawal? I have very little money left and can’t afford methadone or suboxone both of which I just abuse anyway and stay in the cycle. I want to recover as fast and painless as possible. I have made the choice to quit and can not continue to hurt the ones I love. What are some remedies for withdrawal and if it gets to bad can I visit the ER or is it just a waste of time? I am sure this time. It all needs to stop I just need as much advice as I can get. Thank you all very much for your answers and god bless. PS How can I tell my family and friends that I am an addict without further hurting them.
