Open Question: Can a doctor legally stop prescribing methadone without tapering off first?

I have been going to my doctor for 4 years now. He started me on 40 mlg per day, after a year & 1/2 he moved me up to 50 mlg per day. Now with only 1 week left of this months persricption which is about 35, 10 mlg pills he calls me and tells me he will not prescribe the medicine anymore. He also tells me that I won’t be sick when I’m out of my medicine in a week. I was wanting to know is this legall for him to do this. A year and a half ago I tried myself to stop taking it and I made it 16 days, but I was very sick, my legs swelled to 4 times thier normal size and I had brusing all over them. I also started shaking and couldn’t stop, and turned bright red all over. I then gave in and continued to take the methadone. I’m very scared that I will be so sick I could die. I don’t have the time or money to be put in rehab nor have the money to go to a methadone clinic. I’m really scared and need answers, I don’t know what to do? PLEASE HELP?!
I do not know why the answer to my question by Lani is not showing up, but this is my response to your answer to my question. You suggested to take tramadol for methadone withdrawal. There is no way your are a real doctor if that’s your answer to my question. Do you realize that methadone is a blocker and it builds up into your system, tramadol wouldn’t make my baby toe stop hurting. You are crazy to suggest that tramadol would stop the withdrawal. The only thing that stops methadone withdrawal is methadone. My question is is it legall for him to stop it without tapering off because I could die from withdrawal.

Resolved Question: I am a 28 year old struggling with my views. Help?

I am a 28 year old female. I am also a recovering heroin addict in a methadone clinic. I tend to go back and forth on my beliefs some times I like the idea of God in God others I don’t. Sometimes it seems that when I ask God for help it gets worse. I like the idea that there is someone who loves us, but sometime I have a hard time believing, especially after I lost my baby (I had a miscarriage at 4 months) I have a hard time with atheists because I don’t understand why they are offend if someone wants to ahve a tree up at a school or something. If they don’t believe, then that tree is just nothing to them. I guess I’m searching for answers. Can anyone help?
When I said tree I meant a Christmas tree. And was just curious why athiest are offended by them if they believe they are all fake anyway.
Also as you can tell I’m leaning more towards not believing in God. Are there places that young adults can go that still have togtherness and stuff but are non religious?
