Methadone Treatment: Resolved Question: If You Abandoned Your First Child and Get Pregnant Again Will CPS Take the Newborn? (Virginia)?
Resolved Question: If you abandoned your first child and get pregnant again will CPS take the newborn? (Virginia)?
My cousin abandoned her 4 month old daughter due to a drug addiction. Luckily the child’s grandmother was there to adopt her and provide her with a loving, stable environment and she is now a beautiful 6 year old girl. My cousin is due to have another baby very soon and is currently on methadone treatments. She has no where to go once the baby is born because she has burned all her bridges with the family. I am extremely concerned about the welfare of this child once it is born. Will CPS be aware of the current situation from her past case? Should I just go ahead and call CPS to make them aware?
Resolved Question: I need a answer on my methadone to suboxone switch. (very important)?
I was on methadone for almost 2 years. My highest dose was 57mg and I tapered down to 30mg in 6 months . I started suboxone at 8mg and took that for 3 days and then lowered to 6mg for 5 days, then 4mg(3 days), 3mg(2 days), 2mg(2 days), 1mg(2 days), .05mg(2 days), .25(2 days) then jump.
I am currently at the 3mg stage of my taper. When I jump off the suboxone (22 days off methadone) I am aware that there will be some withdrawal effects from 22 day suboxone intake but does anyone know if there will be any withdrawal left from my methadone treatment. For the most part I have been pretty compfortable with my taper so far. If anyone out there has first hand experience (Professional or Patient) with something such as this, please reply to this question. I am going to follow my taper plan but this is the one area I am not fully prepared for. Thank you.
Thank you. I will be making my jump on April 2 after I am at .25 for a couple days. It will be rough for a bit but I have some comfort meds i.e; clonidine, sleep aid and immodium. I am really hoping with my short time on sub, my w/d’s will be managable and not to long. We shall see!!!
Voting Question: 8 months pregnant, newly on methadone treatment plan?
I am 8 months pregnant and just started the methadone program. I didnt know I was pregnant until I was almost 4 months along. I was extremely ill and went to the doctors but they told me it was a kidney infection. Because I didnt know I was pregnant, I had surgery early on in my pregnancy and was taking pain killers the entire 4 months I didnt know I was pregnant. Once I found out and decided I absolutely was keeping the baby, I went to an OBGYN and told him my problem. He said getting off the painkillers at that point would have a very negative and unsafe effect on myself and the baby. So we decided I would do the methadone program. I have never done anything like this before and knew NOTHING about it. Now that I am on it, I am feeling huge regrets. The hospital I want to deliver at is being HORRIBLE to me about this. I want to keep it private and the manager of the delivery area literally told me “well we do talk about these things and we cant help it if one of your family members hears us wispering, so they are going to find out without a doubt”!!!!!!! What happened to HIPPA laws?? I am feeling terrible and guilty about this and dont know what to do. My baby has a very positive environment she will be living in, I will be a good mother. She has EVERYTHING she could have need as well as TONS of family and support!! This will be the only child I am going to have and I just dont want it to be the worst experience ever and the hospital is making it apparent that because of my “selfish, bad” choices, that this will not be a happy experience what so ever. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I should do?
