Methadone Side Effects: Open Question: Is It Possible to Develop an Allergy to Opiate Medications After Previously Being Addicted to Them?
Open Question: Is it possible to develop an allergy to opiate medications after previously being addicted to them?
I was on Subutex for five years until February 2010. I then restarted on methadone six weeks ago and I have been getting terrible side-effects like irregular heartbeat and extreme dizziness. is it possible that I have developed an allergic reaction?
I am suffering from protracted withdrawal syndrome from benzos that I came off in hospital in October 2008.
Any thoughts or info will be very much appreciated. I was prescribed the methadone for chronic pain caused by my Benzo pws. I truly feel like I’m dying .
Resolved Question: OTC Equivalent to Tramadol?
Hello world. I am living in California, and unemployed and uninsured. Now, because my younger working life was mainly heavy lifting and moving, I am now suffering from severe chronic lower back pain. I am in fear that this is due to improper lifting and/or moving of heavy objects.
Because I am uninsured and unemployed I cannot afford to go to a doctor and find a solution or remedy. This has forced me to try many type of medications. Now, I do not like things such as Morphine and Methadone, etc, because of their high risk for a dependency and the side effects.
So, I had found, in my explorations of options, a light and non-narcotic (as far as I know) medication that works really well. Only problem is, that it is an prescription only medication. Tramadol 50 MG works great for me if taken every 3.5 – 4 hours or so.
So, does anyone know of an OTC (Over the Counter) equivalent to Tramadol 50MG? I am looking for something that works and acts as close to Tramadol 50MG as possible. I am planning on taking it every 4 hours or so, until I can afford to see a doctor and get his recommendations.
Until then, I cannot deal with the amount of pain I am in some days. So, any help is highly appreciated.
Thank ahead,
~Jason

Resolved Question: Are the effects of THC weight dependent?
Are the effects of marijuana/THC when smoked (only when smoked) dependent on weight?
If there are 2 people (with one weighing almost twice as much as the other) smoking identical strains of the marijuana from the same smoking apparatus, does the person who weighs more feel the drugs differently? This is ignoring tolerance and prior drug use completely. Let’s assume that neither of the 2 individuals have ever consumed THC in any form.
[On a side note, does the gender of the individuals mater? I believe that it would, but I am having trouble finding any studies on the internet about marijuana and gender.)
I know that THC is stored in fat cells and that heavier people have the THC in their systems for a longer duration of time.
I co-oped at a Methadone clinic during my second semester of university, and I know wholeheartedly that methadone dosing and effects are in no way related to the weight of the patient.
Please don’t answer this unless you are one hundred percent sure that you are correct and can back up your information scientifically. Just because someone posted a potential answer on a forum, does not mean it is correct!
I actually have my undergraduate degree in Neurobiology, but I do not have a strong background in pharmacology. So again, please don’t answer if you don’t know for sure!
This isn’t a homework question, it’s a very prolonged debate between my boyfriend and myself that needs to be settled. :)
Thank you
