13 Weeks Pregnant- Symptoms and What to Do About Them?

Question by Lachlan’s Mummy: 13 weeks pregnant- symptoms and what to do about them?
Hi, well I’m 13 weeks 4 days and nobody seems to agree on when the second trimester starts. Most agree it’s 12,13 or 14 weeks. I’m 13 and a half weeks now so I just say Im there now. But anyway, I’ve been having some problems. First is, I am so incredibly tired all the time. I don’t mean normal tiredness. I’m exhausted. I do have low iron and a thyroid condition but my thyroid is being controlled by medication and Im taking pregnancy multivitamins which do have a bit of iron in them. But I’ve been sleeping so much. I’m 17 and everyone keeps saying how I should have all this energy and stuff. Yeah not true. I’m exhausted! Is there anything I can do about it? Because Im so over being tired?

Another thing is, My breasts are so incredibly sore and my nipples SO sensitive. I’ve been rubbing bio oil on my hips, belly, thighs and breasts for a few days now and I also bought some Lansinoh cream that I’ve been putting on my nipples. I’d like to keep doing that because I’d really like to prepare my breasts for breastfeeding and I think conditioning my nipples like they say is a really good idea but oh my god my nipples are sensitive. I took off my bra just now for the first time in ages that I wasn’t showering because my breasts have been so sensitive and even the feeling of the fabric of my pyjama top brushing against my nipples is painful. It’s terrible! Is there anything I can do?

Also I’ve been suffering from a lot of aches and pains in my legs and whole back and my neck and pretty much everywhere. Is this normal? Is this because of the fatigue? And should I be worried? I understand with the weight gain and as the baby grows I’m more likely to suffer from these aches and pains. But is 13 weeks a bit soon?

Thanks heaps. 10 points for the most informative, helpful answer.
I’ve had my thyroid checked several times since pregnant. In fact I had bloodwork on monday and saw my endocrinologist today. It’s a little high but fine. I suffer from graves disease. I have to take one extra tablet a day now but its nowhere near as bad as it has been and I feel worse than I have before

second trimester is at 13 :)

also have you REtested your thyroid since pregnant? Your pregnancy is most likely destabilizing it even more. Even if its just a little. I had this issue and on my 12 weeks appointment. They send me for bloodwork and on thé next app. 4 later, switched my meds. Its most likely in need to be checked more than once during pregnanc
